Huons N Completes Expansion of Chuncheon Plant, Boosting Competitiveness in Health Functional Food Production

Huons N, a life-care solutions company under the Huons Group, has successfully completed the expansion of its Chuncheon plant, significantly reinforcing its production capacity for health functional foods.

Huons N (CEO Dongchul Son) held a completion ceremony on the 9th at its plant located in Dongnae-myeon, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon State.

The event was attended by Huons Group Chairman Yoon Sung-tae, key executives, Mayor of Chuncheon City Yook Dong-han, and officials from the city's Investment Promotion Department.

Through this expansion, the plant's alcohol extraction facility capacity has increased by approximately 200%, reaching an annual production scale of 10,000 tons. Additionally, with the newly constructed water extraction facility capable of processing 6,500 tons per year, the plant has secured a total annual production capacity of 16,500 tons.

The expanded facility was engineered with a primary focus on maximizing safety and productivity. The plant obtained Korea’s top-tier Process Safety Management (PSM) and implemented explosion-proof systems across all manufacturing lines to enhance safety during the alcohol extraction process. Furthermore, Huons N established a robust infrastructure to meet large-scale production demands by introducing six high-capacity 6-kiloliter (kL) extractors and highly efficient concentration systems.

Huons N has consistently demonstrated its quality and manufacturing capabilities by supplying natural extract ingredients to major clients, including Nonghyup Red Ginseng. Leveraging this plant expansion, Huons N plans to scale up its health functional food ingredient manufacturing and strengthen its competitiveness across various natural substance business sectors.

The newly built facilities are scheduled to begin full-scale operations in mid-July. Huons N aims to expand the production of its core red ginseng concentrates while rolling out new ingredients targeted at liver, eye, and joint health. Moving forward, Huons N intends to diversify its business portfolio into herbal medicines, cosmetics, natural flavorings, and the market for individually approved functional food ingredients.
